Food Services

All K-12 students attending school in-person will have one free breakfast and one free lunch available to them every academic school year.

BREAKFAST:

If your student needs breakfast, they must go directly to the cafeteria when they get to school. It is served every school day from 8:30-8:55 a.m. Students do not need to pre-order breakfast as we have plenty of items on hand. If your student comes by car, please drop them off by 8:30, so they have time to enjoy their breakfast in the cafeteria.

Students pick 3 out of the following 5 choices: a grain, a protein, fruit, juice box and milk. We offer a variety of cereals, muffins, banana bread, as well as string cheese, yogurt, fruit and milk.

LUNCH:

Monthly Lunch Ordering – Every student must pre-order lunch

  • Families will receive an email about the 15th of each month with the next month’s menu attached and the online link to order. The ordering process must be completed by the deadline date each month, so we have an accurate count for our caterer.
          • By looking at the menu, choose which days your student would like to purchase a meal and order accordingly.
          • Repeat the ordering process for any additional Beacon students.
          • Make a note on your calendar or on a printed school menu so that you remember what dates you ordered for your student.
  • If your student will be eating hot lunch every day, you can put them on the “Every Day Eater List”. Please contact Carol Fox at [email protected] to add them to the list. With this option, you will not have to order lunches online every month. We will automatically provide them a lunch every day.

4th – 8th graders can purchase extras. They must have money in their lunch accounts.

  • 2nd slice of pizza - $2.00
  • A la carte items – 65¢ each – they can purchase two items each day
  • Payment Options
          • To pay by check, write your child’s name and the word “lunch” in the memo of your check. Drop the check off in the black box located just outside the front office labeled “Lunch Payments”.
          • To pay by cash, place cash in an envelope with the child’s name on it and the amount you are enclosing. There are also envelopes to use at the black box outside the front office where you will deposit the cash.
          • To pay online with a credit card, go to schoolpay.com . They do charge a 3.99% fee.

Special Dietary Lunches

We offer hot lunch for special dietary needs.  You must complete our “Special Diet Statement Form” and have it signed by a licensed physician, physician’s assistant, or a nurse practitioner. Please contact Carol Fox, our Food Service Coordinator at [email protected] if you need information.

We also offer lactose-free milk.  It is a special order, so you will have to contact Carol Fox so she can place a special order for this.

With MDE, the Free Meals for Kids mobile app was created to support summer meal programs utilizing the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Free Meals for Kids helps families and kids locate free healthy meals across Minnesota. The App is powered by GPS and shows locations of schools and community sites providing meals, with days and hours of operation. It also shows the distance and directions to the nearest site from your location. We list all sites that have been approved by MDE. The App is updated regularly, even daily, to make sure the information is current. Search “Summer” on the Serving Sites button to see a list of summer meal sites from the MDE website as of 05/05/2024.

We are also promoting the SUN BUCKS summer EBT program. Search “Sun Bucks” on the serving sites to see the county sites listed.

Please download the App, post on social media, include in emails to families or on your school website.
